I have always said that only good energy would go into this project, so I had to step away for the past few weeks while I sorted through some heavy emotions. Our friend spent two weeks searching for his son, only to find out that his body had been found days prior to the missing person report even being filed with police. So for over two weeks, he frantically searched everywhere for his child all the while police had already located him. How could they possibly not make the connection between the body and the person missing? It sickened me coming to the realization that even to this day Indigenous children are being tossed aside, like the ones who lay in unmarked graves at former IRS locations. How can we say “Every Child Matters” yet continue to perpetuate systematic racism against Indigenous children?
